| Where can i get hot spice? -vicky,N aveen from india |
| I love your broad question on "Hot Spice", hot has many aspects. Since you are in India I am sure you know the best chillies available in your town and how hot they are???? we in the West only know "Scott bonnet pepper", as the hottest in this part of the world. I know Assam has a pepper called "Bhooth Jalokia", world's hottest pepper. thank you for your question. | |||||
| I come from bangalore, Is this powder close to what folks from bangalore are used to or this made locally from someone who came from other parts of India -LN from from Dayton - OH |
| I do not know from what part of India they are? I have had some good luck selling their products. I understand your concerns about Sambar powder, many people from many States in India make it in so many ways. I do not know what Bangalore Sambar powder is, but I can safely recommend that you stick to MTR Sambar powder, it is from Karnataka and I am sure everyone knows the name brand and taste. | |||||
| Is the bulk sambar powder for $6.00 / lb have a brand name or is it locally made in US -LN from Dayton - OH |
| This is just locally made by one family. No Brand name. We do carry MDH sambar powder for $2.00 each small packet. | |||||
| Hi Chandru... can you please let me know about the legumes Poona peas and red gota. What part of India do they come from and would you know some traditional recipes I can cook? Thank you -Kirsten from Australia |
| Many of the legumes are grown in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and in Punjab, it is very difficult to pin point any one locattion. As the weather is warm throughout India many types of lentils and legumes are grown in many place simultaneously. India does NOT have mega farms like the West, most farms are about 10 to 25 acres. Cooking: The best is to obtain any pre-packaged spice mix for lentils, one good brand in South India is "777", the North Indian one is called "MDH", then you can also try the mix from Pataks in the form of pastes...it comes from the United Kingdom. Almost always spices are cooked with onions, garlic, cumin seeds, garam masala and asafoetida. You can also google Indian recipes for the lentils. | |||||
| Do you carry maggi and other indian snacks like Haldirams and stuff? How about Kingfisher beer? |
| I do not have Kingfisher beer but you can buy tickets to travel in Kingfisher airlines that surely sells or gives away the beer, depending in what class you may be travelling. I do carry Maggi Noodles and Haldiram snacks. Thank you. | |||||
